If I told you that you needed a guide to finding women online, would you believe me? Products to help men pick-up women have been around for years now, with Neil Strauss’ The Game kicking off a string of PUA book successes. But now these PUAs are moving online for a new generation of pickup.
Up until recently the place to find someone online was the best free dating site. However, times are changing and social networks are becoming larger as well as very open. Most online dating books focus on gaming FaceBook to find girls in your area, but the information could also be applied to any given site.
Most of these guides are based around the principles set out by ‘old-fashioned’ PUAs like Mystery and Style, who gave the PUA community the basis for their beliefs. Sure the community existed before them, but with the skeleton of understanding given by a few early PUAs, we can move to the internet. All of the attraction switches that work offline should now be able to work offline, right?
Well, it turns out, maybe not. It can be hard to communicate certain qualities purely with text. So much of the interaction is lost online: from body language to tone of voice (it’s well known that 80% of communication is non-verbal). An even larger hurdle is moving a relationship you’ve started online offline, especially if you do not act, speak (or worse look) like the avatar you use online.
Pick-up has always been a number game but online dating books make this even more true. The biggest problem with the current generation of dating websites is that they are simply too small. FaceBook on the other hand is massive! But that doesn’t matter if you can’t reach enough girls on Face Book. Luckily a handful of tools for FaceBook automation have been created, so you can spend more time focusing on individual interactions and less thinking about casting a wide net.
No-one is sure where online dating guides are going, but there have been hundreds of them and it seems unlikely they are going away. Dating services can only take us so far, so perhaps an online dating book should be your next relationship-related purchase. Just keep in mind that you still need to shower, shave and keep up your real world appearances.
